Robot Redesign and Lollipop Update

Ok, so this week has been pretty chaotic and I'm very happy about it! UV Unwrapping is complete! Woop woop! 45 UDIMs in total but I'm pleased! But first, an update on the design of the robot.
So as you know, the robot has a sort of Wall-Eesque vibe to it (though weirdly, I wasn't inspired by that but the Vicious Cycle animation I've mentioned in a previous post). I felt that this design was maybe a little too unrealistic for a functioning robot, especially one that is outdoors. It was time to get modelling!
The first step was a bit of concepting in 3D. I liked the idea of a more industrial look so I went for a harder edged surface - a cuboid.

I came up with this design. From there, I wanted to doodle on the image so I brought it into Photoshop.

I took influence from the emperor's guards in Star Wars VI for the 'face' and Big Dog by Boston Dynamics for the cloth covering on the sides.
From there adjusted the model in Maya before bringing the head and torso into Marvelous Designer for Cloth Simulation. I used the pinning tool within Marvelous to make the cloth seemed like it had been nailed to the body,

A little render with a Stranger Things style background for fun.
Onto texturing!
Once the modelling was done, I finished the unwrapping (I unwrapped one half of the robot then mirrored the mesh and moved the UVs) and brought the mesh into Mari.
Here is where I am currently:

Lollipop
The lollipop is coming along well! I haven't worked a huge amount on it this week as I don't want it to overcome my other projects but it's slowly reaching completion!
I switched over to multipass rendering to help with the compositing and have painted some normal mapping on as in the end I did feel that the wrapper looked too loose.

My node graph so far with the multipass rendering.

If you've made it this far, thanks for reading!
